A Fairytale to Copenhagen (on a bike).

Richie is embarking on a major bike tour from The Hook of Holland to Copenhagen….well at least that is the intention. I am a 65 year old bike touring nut who will set off on 18th August for 4 weeks of solo adventures through Holland, Germany and Denmark. Come and join me by reading the blog. You can subscribe for email updates or keep booking in here on middleoftheroad.uk.

I will be travelling light and staying in hostels and small hotels, booking as I go.

I will be following in the steps of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen to create my version of a fairytale. However, I won’t be wearing the Emperor’s New Clothes or Kissing any Frogs!!

I have previously cycled through most European countries and want to tick Denmark off my list too. My blog is intended to be my personal record of my travelling and thoughts but I do try and keep it interesting and silly too. I don’t plug it on social media but I welcome returning/existing readers and new readers to join me as I travel and explore new areas.

I’m not intending to make this an extreme challenge but more of a voyage of discovery with new foods, new cultures, new sights and new friends. The route will initially take me along the North Sea coast, hopefully visiting Hamburg and into the west coast of Denmark before cutting across towards the Eastern Islands and ultimately Copenhagen. I have around 4 weeks, so that should be plenty of time to cover the route.

The plan could change at any time because I will be very flexible, taking advice from people I meet and diverting to see interesting places rather than plough on along a pre-ordained route.

Subscribe to the blog or provide an email for updates.

Here I am on a previous trip with my sturdy Ribble Gravel bike .
